About The Arts
Martial arts. A way of life. A way of connecting with your inner core. A way of connecting with and expressing your essence -- you essential self. A path to the center, a discipline that holds the key to self-realization.
Martial arts is many things. A way of self-protection. A way of personal growth. A way of building self-esteem, enhancing creativity, cultivating self-awareness, and expanding one's awareness of place and time. All these things....and much, much more.
How is all this possible from a discipline that trains someone to cultivate the consciousness of a warrior? The answer is quite simple. Warrior consciousness embodies key qualities that produce a sense of being whole. Qualities like strength, perseverance, courage, humility, humor, compassion, and respect for self and others.
Acquiring these qualities is not an overnight process. It takes a while to get there -- quite a while. But as with any journey that is worth undertaking, the path of the warrior is filled with many interesting discoveries as the pilgrimage toward wholeness unfolds.
Janet Gee's Martial Arts Training facilitates the cultivation of warrior consciousness...and much, much more. Drawing from traditional martial arts, while incorporating modern body-mind disciplines, Janet Gee has developed a unique approach to the Way of the Warrior. And she shares her extensive knowledge in all these disciplines in a dedicated effort to helping her students achieve that sense of wholeness we all seek.
What are the traditional martial arts systems on which Janet bases her teaching? Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Shaolin Kung Fu, Indonesian martial arts, Tae Kwan Do, Kempo Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Judo. Janet has studied all these systems and now holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt. Indeed, martial arts has been her chosen life path since 1971.
But she has also explored in depth other disciplines whose ultimate goal is to facilitate a holistic sense of self. These are the modern body-mind disciplines that compliment and enhance the cultivation of warrior consciousness. These include the Alexander Technique, massage therapy, vision therapy, sensory awareness, and other modalities that enhance one's integration of body and mind. Janet is a certified Alexander Technique instructor, as well as a certified massage therapist.
As a bridge linking traditional martial arts and modern body-mind disciplines, Janet draws from her extensive background in yoga -- an ideal method for developing the flexibility and concentration so necessary to the cultivation of warrior consciousness. Janet is a certified yoga teacher, as well as a gifted martial artist.
Martial arts. A way of life. A way of being the person you were meant to be. It is a path to wholeness. And Janet Gee's Martial Arts Training offers a unique approach to that path. For Janet, her ultimate goal as a teacher is to assist her students with the integration of body, mind, and spirit -- to actualize the warrior consciousness.
